AGES 7-13

The following five classes are tailored to younger dancers (ages 7-10) who have been taking dance for a few years and are ready to go to the next level with their skills and technique. These classes are also a great entry point for slightly older dancers (ages 9-13) who haven’t danced for a while or perhaps have never taken formal lessons but would like to get started in a welcoming environment!

Ballet & Modern I / Ballet & Modern II, Thursdays 5:50-6:50 PM

Dancers will learn Ballet and Modern dance technique, as well as improvisation and composition, in this fun and inspiring class. Some prior dance experience is recommended - particularly for dancers on the younger end of the age range. Triple Threat is a prerequisite to this class for 7 and 8-year-olds. Dancers will be divided into two separate groups, according to technical ability displayed, after the first week or two of classes are used for assessment.

Acrobatic elements will be used to complement the art form. This is the perfect class for increasing flexibility and strength while also increasing dance ability. Not to be confused with Gymnastics, Acrobatics is the performance of movement that requires balance, coordination and agility. Prior experience in dance and/or tumbling/gymnastics is recommended.

----------

Dance for Musical Theatre, Mondays 2:30-3:30 PM

A class especially for homeschool students between the ages of 7 and 13! Dancers will learn techniques in jazz and tap specific to the stylings for musical theatre productions. This class will cost 20% less than other DancEast classes (so $520 - or $52/month - instead of $650, which is the typical price for a 1-hour weekly class).
